It's taken a ridiculously long time to come together (20 years!) but its finally here! The hard copies of "Road to tyranny" arrived when I was in Aberdeen doing the BBC Radio Scotland "Travelling Folk" Christmas special and by the time I got back they were already on sale in MacGregor's Bar!
I'm really happy with how this album has turned out and with the musical friends I have joining me its hardly surprising. The tunes have been written over the last thirty years (hardly prolific) and the majority have been published in "The Highlander's Revenge - tunes and tales from a Blazin' Fiddler". There are some brand new ones such as the title track "Road to tyranny", "Roddy MacGregor" and "Josh's 2 secs" which were all composed during the first lockdown.
Unfortunately we've had to rearrange the date for the album launch at Eden Court Theatre due to the new restrictions, however we're hoping that a new date can be found soon and all the great artists on the bill are able to join me again.
We're still waiting to hear if the Celtic Connections gig will go ahead on 26th January at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Strathclyde Suite.
Huge thanks to the team at Birnam CD for the design and creation of the physical CD and also massive thanks to Angus Lyon at Gran's House Studio for helping me
produce and mix the album. Anna Massie also deserves huge thanks for helping with the production and mixing as well as her incredible playing.
Photos were all taken by Archie MacFarlane who is top notch!
The digital version of the album is available here
